Laing conceded that not having Kartel and Mavado at STING last year hurt his product while claiming that the show's change from its clash nature caused it to lose some credibility. However, Laing intimated that several artistes approached him to engage in clashes as an effort to revive the show's atmosphere.
According to Laing, the show's first clash will engage finalist from the STING Face-Off Wednesdays weekly competition that's been held at Club Riddim over recent months. Following that, former Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall stalwarts, Hurricane and Specialist face off followed by Deva Bratt vs Iyara, Tony Matterhorn vs. Twin of Twins then Kiprich vs. Merciless.
However, the much anticipated clash between Dancehall legends, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer is seemingly in jeopardy after Beenie implied that he would not perform at STING 2011 unless Laing apologizes for recent comments he made during a television interview. According to Laing, he said nothing offensive about Beenie Man.
"I did not say anything about Beenie Man. I said things about him to big him up..If he thinks I'm dissing him, then I’m sorry Beenie Man, you want me to apologize? Come and do the show for the people. It's not my show anymore. This is now an institution for the world," Laing said.
When OnStage host, Winford Williams implied that Laing still had to time to change Beenie's mind, the Supreme Promotions head guaranteed that Beenie will appear at the show; hopeful that he and Bounty will clash.
"I know he's gonna be coming to the show. Trust me, he will be there," Laing said.
